How to Overcome Infertility

Infertility does not mean the end of the road for you. Modern medicine has made great strides in fertility treatments. Here are a number of ways to overcome infertility using assisted reproductive therapy (ART).

IVF (in vitro fertilization)
This form of fertility treatment is better known than others. It is the process of unification of egg and sperm in the laboratory. Then the embryos are transferred into the uterus through the cervix.

ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection)
This is a new technique that is considered a breakthrough in the treatment of male infertility. A single sperm is injected directly necessary and in the egg. This treatment gives hope that the man has a low sperm count or produced some sperm quality.

IUI (intrauterine Inseminisation)
The semen is collected and then processed are placed directly into the woman's vagina, the cervical canal or uterine cavity.

genetic diagnosis pre-
This treatment allows couples to avoid transmission of genetic diseases to their children predisposed for control of the genes of embryos created by in vitro fertilization.

Sperm washing
This is the process in which the sperm is separated from the seed. washed sperm is used in IVF treatment or IUI.

blastocyst culture
Modern advances in the field of fertility has allowed the development of embryos in the laboratory at the blastocyst stage of development. healthy embryos usually do at this stage, therefore, they have a better chance to locate once they are transferred.

assisted hatching
This is a process where the embryologist creates a small hole in the zona pellucida under a microscope using micromanipulation.

IVM (in vitro maturation)
This is a process in which immature eggs are removed from the ovaries. Since then, they have been reared in the laboratory before fertilization.

Vitrification (egg freezing)
This process allows a woman to have her eggs extracted to be frozen and stored. When ready, the eggs were thawed and fertilized then transferred to the uterus.

cryopreservation
Cryopreservation is the preservation of embryos, semen, blood cells or stem cells by freezing and stored for later use.
