What You Need To Know About Clothing Labels

By Stephanie Fisher

Many people are unaware of the producer of most of their garments. This may make it easier for people who like your garment to get the same item. Due to this reason, companies specialized in producing clothes have decided to add Clothing Labels to their products to make it easier for potential clients to trace back the source of the products. The method is thus considered a marketing strategy.

A common type of label used are woven ones. They tend to last as long as the garment. This will allow marketing of the company as the new customers wear clothes with the labels thus attracting other people into purchasing clothes from the company. Using an effective label that lasts longer is thus an innovative way of promoting clothes made by a company.

The quality of a label is important as it determines how long the tag lasts before the content in it fades or wears out. Choosing a low quality label will result in easy damage of the tag during washing or erasing of the ink. Furthermore, a low quality tag is also more likely to have the front material peeling off thus making it unsuitable for fulfilling the marketing function.

When thinking of the type of label to attach to your garment, you need to check that the characteristics of the tag are similar to that of the material on which the tag is to be attached on. Color and type of material used to create the tag are checked to ensure that they are similar to the garment on which the tag is to be attached.

There are two main options for tags that one can choose from the printed and woven type of tags. For the printed types, the font is printed onto the tag using a permanent ink. The ink is intended to last a long time though it is prone to washing off. Common materials used in making such type of tags include cotton twill, nylon, polyester, acetate, and satin.

The printed labeling method is however not as withstanding as the woven ones as the font is likely to be washed out with frequent washing. Although they do not last as long as the woven ones, they are cheaper as they are easily manufactured and are of high quality. This may be the reason as to why many companies are preferring this type of labeling for their garments.

For the woven type of labeling, satin, taffeta, and damask are the main materials used. They last longer than the printed labels. However, their main downside is that they tend to sag with time after every wash. Also, some customers claim that the label feels scratchy and itchy on their skin. Other people may also show an allergic reaction to the material.

For a company which wants to add tags to their garments, they can easily purchase them from online stores specialized in providing the product. To acquire the products in bulk, the company should consider having them produces in bulk. This will also allow the company to customize the appearance of the tags they attach to their garments thus making them more unique.
